Tickle Your Brain

Whether you are most familiar with the trading cards, video games, TV shows, movies, or apps on your phone, you have probably heard of Pokémon!  This franchise was created in 1996 by Satoshi Tajiri, and started off as a pair of games on Game Boy.  They were hits, and became a major global sensation.

The Pokémon universe is one where humans live alongside creatures known as Pokémon.  When the franchise was first created, there were 151 species, but now there are over 1,000!  Humans in this world become trainers, and they have several goals.  They want to travel the world, discover and catch all of the different species of Pokémon, and train their Pokémon to fight in battles.  It is a series geared towards children, so the battles aren’t excessively violent, and Pokémon can easily be revived after being defeated.

The trading cards are wildly popular with collectors, and some are extremely valuable.  The value of the cards range from only a few cents for common cards, to tens of thousands of dollars for rare collector cards.
