Quiet Study Room Policy

The Euclid Public Library has six Quiet Study Rooms that are available by same-day reservation for quiet activities such as study.

Number of People Allowed in Quiet Study Rooms

A maximum of four to eight people may use a quiet study room, as designated for the specific room. Our meeting room registration policy and procedures may be recommended for larger groups.

Noise

Quiet Study Rooms may be used only for quiet activities that are consistent with the informational, educational, and recreational purpose of the library. We encourage patrons to use this space for small group discussions, tutoring, or quiet study. Those using the Quiet Study Rooms should maintain a volume that is not disruptive to others in the library.

Children in Quiet Study Rooms

Children (under the age of 18) must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or supervising adult age 21 or older and comply with above-stated expectations. Children without adults should be directed to an age-appropriate area of the library for the given activity.

Items Left in Study Rooms

Items left in the study rooms at the end of a reservation will be taken to the lost and found in the circulation department.

The library is not liable for injuries to people, damage to their property, or loss of property belonging to individuals using Quiet Study Rooms. Whenever personal injury or loss/damage to property occurs in connection with use of a Quiet Study Room, the incident must be reported immediately to the staff member in charge of the library and an incident report must be completed.

Eating and Drinking in the Library

The Library permits light snacks and beverages, including in the Quiet Study Rooms. For purposes of this policy, beverages encompass any non-alcoholic beverage, such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, juice or milk. All beverages must have a no-spill lid. A light snack is considered to be an edible item that may be served between meals. Examples include small bags of chips, doughnuts, sweet rolls, or pieces of fruit.
Snacks and beverages should be enjoyed responsibly, remembering to recycle or discard wrappers, bottles, and trash and leaving a clean area for other patrons when you leave. If a patron is disruptive while enjoying a snack or beverage, then library staff and/or security may direct that the patron refrain from that snack or beverage inside the Library. Library patrons may also be asked to remove the item from the library. The Director and other library staff are authorized to determine what constitutes a snack or beverage and to take appropriate disciplinary or other action if needed. Eating is not permitted at any computer in the library.
“No Smoking” and “No Alcoholic Beverage” rules are strictly enforced. Open flames, such as candles, may not be used.
