Euclid Public Library Strategic Plan 2017-2020

In 2014, the Euclid Public Library [EPL] Board of Trustees adopted the 2014-2016 Strategic Plan, completed in December 2016. In January 2016, the Library began working with Holy Cow! Consulting, the State Library of Ohio, and EPL staff to assess the existing plan and start formulating the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan. Surveys were mailed to randomly selected Euclid residents, while printed assessments were available in the library and distributed by the EPL Outreach Department. Approximately 40% of library patrons surveyed returned the questionnaire. In addition to the surveys, EPL utilized the American Library Association’s Libraries Transforming Communities focus group model and hosted five focus groups for residents. To ensure the Library heard from a diverse set of residents, the Strategic Planning team conducted a series of community tours to learn more about what the Euclid community wants and needs as well as some of the upcoming plans and initiatives addressed by the City, local schools, businesses, and other organizations. Through the patron survey, EPL learned that residents are overall satisfied with resources and services provided by the library and believe that library staff is one of the most critical components of the library. Additionally, the Board of Trustees worked with Holy Cow! Consulting and the State Library of Ohio to hear from library employees through a separate staff survey and focus groups. More information about the previous Strategic Plan and community survey are available at euclidlibrary.org. WHY THE LIBRARY NEEDS A PLAN Strategic planning is critical to organizations. These types of plans are important as they give clear guidance and help libraries achieve their overall mission and vision. Information that inspired the plan: Holy Cow!
