Chess Club: Learn to Play

Children and Teens of All Ages

Have you ever wanted to learn to play chess? Join us for the Chess Club as we learn to play and practice our new skills. We’ll meet the third Thursday of every month September through December. See you there – checkmate!

No registration required but space is limited. Arrive on time to claim your spot.

Meet Saadia Faruqi (and Yasmin)!

Ages 5 and up

Pakistani American author Saadia Faruqi will visit us on Skype from on Wednesday, September 19 at 6 pm. Join us as she reads from her chapter book Meet Yasmin! and answers all your questions about writing books for kids. After the program, we will also do a craft from the book and enjoy Pakistani snacks.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

Grades 2-7

Avast Ye Mateys! The Library has lost its booty and needs your help to find it all! Drop in from 2-7 pm and earn dubloons for helping us find our lost treasure. While you are here, you can design your own Jolly Roger and eye patch. Stick around, and you may even learn some cool pirate lingo - Araargh!

Classical Music Storytime: Mother Goose

Ages 3-8, with their caregivers

Learn about classical music while listening to live performances by Mr. Ron and pianist Coren Estrin Mino, inspired by the stories of Mother Goose and games played by children. How do two people manage to play at one piano (and remain friends!)? We will discover this and more while enjoying stories, music, crafts, and fun!

Registration begins August 27. Space is limited.
