SPARKLE is here for your Preschool child!
Meet our friend Sparkle, starring in a new web site that the library has developed to help children get ready for kindergarten.
Parents are sometimes concerned about whether their child will be ready for kindergarten. Experts have found that children who come from homes where parents are introducing them to skills such as listening and sharing, letter names and sounds, as well as motor skills like hopping or using scissors are more successful in school. Our web site will give the support you need to “Build a Kindergarten Star”.
The information on this web site is a collaboration between the children’s librarians of the Euclid Public Library, the Euclid Public Schools’ kindergarten teachers and local preschool teachers.
You will find tips and techniques to use everyday with your child to help learn and reinforce skills such as counting, sorting, following directions, beginning reading skills and how to share. Materials such as books and educational movies are recommended to help supplement the learning process.
In addition to using the web site, we hope that you will visit the library often and make reading a family affair. We look forward to working with all of our families to get every preschooler ready to be a Kindergarten Star!
