What

The Parent / Teen Book Club will be held on the second Saturday of each month. If you are the parent or special friend of a teenager, you know how difficult it can be to talk to your teen about the issues facing young people today.

Using young adult books as a catalyst to discussion can help break down barriers and help transmit your values in a non-confrontational manner.

Each month we'll focus on a book that features a young teen facing situations that could severly impact his or her future.

Today's book is The Stranger by Anne Schraff.

"Ernesto Sandoval begins his junior year at Cesar Chavez High School a virtual stranger. He didn't want to move back to the barrio after a decade in Los Angeles. After all, he had a lot of friends and even a girlfriend. But then he spies Naomi Martinez- the most beautiful girl he's ever seen. And he falls hard."
