Can your child sing the alphabet song? One of the best ways to introduce the alphabet to children is through singing. Once they know the letter names it is time to introduce the individual letters to your child.
Help your child Make an Alphabet Book. You can have him write each letter on a piece of paper or find letters in old magazines or catalogs and glue them on the paper. Use one or two letters per page. Later when he is learning sounds have him add pictures of things that begin with that sound.
Whenever you drive somewhere Play the ABC Game. Have your child find letters of the alphabet on signs and license plates. Start with A and look for letters in order. You can also play this game in a store, restaurant or where ever you go.
Play the Alphabet Memory Game. Make, print or purchase flashcards. Make sure there are two cards for each letter. To play the game put them letter side down and take turns turning them over, trying to find matching letters. Each time your child matches a letter have him tell you what the letter is. Use just a few letters to start. This game can also be played matching upper and lowercase letters.
